Can the ASEAN+3 Region Withstand the Most Disruptive Trade Shock in Decades

Despite a steady 2024, the ASEAN+3 region enters 2025 amid a radically shifting global landscape. Escalating tariffs and rising geo-economic fragmentation have made the external environment increasingly volatile. Still, the region stands on relatively strong footing—supported by diversified growth, solid policy buffers, and closer regional ties. The policy decisions taken now will be crucial in determining how the region navigates the turbulence and whether it can emerge stronger.

The seminar will begin with a presentation of key findings from the 2025 ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO) report. This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring distinguished experts who will explore the region’s economic prospects and policy priorities amid an increasingly fragmented global trade landscape. The session will conclude with an open floor discussion to engage directly with the audience.
